Eco Friendly Bridal Shower Ideas

Throwing a bridal shower that is good for the environment has never been easier. Here are some simple ideas for the new bride to be to kick off her married life as a greenie.

Keep the party small. Large parties create waste, and small simple parties are often much  more fun and social. Rent or borrow a large car, retro car, or limo and pick up everyone in a bridal 'carpool'. Even though the car you may be using is a gas hog, you are keeping all of your guest's cars off the road - thereby reducing your party 'carbon emissions'.

Popular green registry items: stainless-steel pots and pans; organic cotton bed linens and bath towels; bamboo cooking utensils. Or, everyone can contribute towards one giant gift, like an energy efficient washer or dryer.

Having a party in a lush garden, accompanied by organic hor's de oeuvres and organic wine would be wonderful. However, if weather does not allow, there are many cool and funky vegetarian/ organic restaurants that are more than happy to rent out an area of their restaurant for soirees.

Eco-friendly bridal favors are easy to put together. The hostess may put them together herself, or order pre-made eco-favors. Some popular ideas are soy candles, yummy organic soaps tied up in natural bags . Small, hearty plants that require little water, are also popular (and pretty) bridal shower gifts.

Remember to keep your paper waste down as much as possible. Use real plates and silverware, and if you must use paper/plastic, opt for biodegradable paper and PLA corn plastic utensils.
